Sacred Valley…
I probably already spoiled this post by being my typical impatient self and overzealously sharing iPhone pics of the Sacred Valley when I was in Peru… so I guess you’ll just have to hear about it twice. Double the fun.
While in Cusco, we decided to do a half day tour of the Sacred Valley which is the heartland of the Incas. This included a stop at the salt ponds where they harvest (wait for it)… salt. We also checked out the terraces at Moray which is a pretty impressive archaeological site where the Incas experimented with agriculture. We wrapped it up with a trip to a textile shop where they demonstrated how they create their supersoft products and use natural dyes to give them their vibrant colors. This tour was a great start to the trip and set the stage for the ridiculousness that was the Inca Trail. I’m kinda sorta dying to talk all about the Inca Trail, so that post will be coming soon. It might’ve just been the coolest thing I’ve ever done. Seriously. So, stay tuned!
